Periodically I google myself. This is a good practice. Most of the listings under my name are my projects. However, we always have a bad apple in the bunch.
Listings at spoke.com is inaccurate. It’s currently listing myself and my husband as president and vice president of a petroleum marketing company, but yet copy/pasted text from eriwyn.com to back it up. ?!?!?
I have no idea how they gather their information. I never submitted it to them.
Months ago I had submitted to them that they have the wrong info. As of today, it’s still wrong. They obviously do not care.
I may consider myself a “propane princess” but only because my dad is the equivalent of Hank Hill in the city I live in. THat’s about as much “Petroleum” as I get, other than griping over how much we spend in gas every month…
so, one of my web clients has their own hosting plan by a company that I truly question what they have going on.
I go to upload a change. FTP Error. Try again (because because login/settings info worked last time). FTP Error. Try again. Will work through alternative FTP program. Upload changes. whoo hoo. done.
Client has one more change. Proceed to upload. FTP Error. Try again. Pretty much rinse and repeat.
It’s like playing russian roulette on whether I get in or not.
NONE of these times am I changing settings or user login/password what have you. This is very aggravating.
I have in the past contacted this host server to see if I had some setting off. Seems that everything I had been using was ok, but then I receive another email saying to try a different port number. Ok. Then the next week, another email comes back saying that I can go back to using port 21. Absolutely flummoxed.
I did test the alternative port number this time — That was really a NO GO. You know how there can be an error 1 (this is not a winning piece, please try again) and an error 2 (what the hell are you doing?)? Yep — got an error 2.
So, I’ve come to the conclusion that there must be some sort of a protection on the server. The same IP address is forbidded to make more than one connection in a 24-hour period. And since I do some of my moonlighting work by the light of the moon (ha ha pun intended) and I’ve already used my “once before midnight” and the “once after midnight” cards, I’ll have to conclude that I’m screwed. And my client is going to wonder why I can’t get things done.
Just for the record, I’ve NEVER had this issue with GoDaddy.

who is sick and tired of seeing “Connection failed. Delaying for 120 seconds before reconnect #22.”
looks like delicious got a make over… No longer is the url the del DOT icio DOT us, but something a little more normal like delicious.com. Looks alright, too.
However, I’m the dork that can’t access my account anymore. sheesh… Wonder if anyone else has this issue…

Ok ok — everything’s ok now… Have been able to get in and fix my problems, which were probably user based anyways… wynn-080108
Just realized that the problem i’ve been having doing screenshots is not a user forgetfulness error but a bug. A freakin’ bug in Photoshop CS3. The world is coming to an end…
I know it’s photoshop, because I can do my PrintScreen + Alt to copy/paste a single window screenshot from IE or Firefox to Word or MS Paint (although i refuse to admit I even opened that program). But no-go photoshop. I’m a sad panda.
All I want is a color group from google maps. is it that hard to ask for? Copy/ paste/ ink dropper/ work done. Apparently it is too much.
Thank goodness i’m not the only fool out there:
Anyways… rants come easy lately… Hmm… wonder why?
My favorite phrase of late (just ask my husband): “Have I shown you my favorite finger lately?”
